Connect eBay & publish in one tap
eBay is the only platform that allows direct publishing through an API, and Postfast does it straight from your own account — no copy-paste. This guide covers when that helps, what you need to set up first, and how to get it all running in a few minutes.
Who is it for?
Direct eBay publishing is free and available on every plan (each first publication counts as one generation; updates are free). Here are the three sellers whose day it genuinely changes.
The regular seller
You put several items up for sale every week. Photo → Postfast writes it → published on eBay: no more typing the title, the description or the price by hand. You save minutes on every listing.
The trader / reseller
You hunt at car boot sales and consignment shops. Postfast estimates the value, writes the listing and puts it live on eBay — while purchase tracking works out your real margin on every item.
The seller in a hurry
You hate filling in forms. Generate, check the suggested category and price, confirm: the listing goes live on your eBay account in seconds, with a direct link waiting in the app.
Not ready to connect yet?
No problem: Postfast stays 100% usable as copy-paste into the eBay app, exactly as it is for Vinted, Gumtree or Marketplace. The direct connection is an optional shortcut, not a requirement.
Before you start: what your eBay account needs
To publish through the API, four things must be in place on eBay: three business policies — a payment one, a return one and a fulfillment one (postage) — and a dispatch address. They are free, and you only set them up once.
Turn on business policies in eBay
On eBay: My eBay → Account settings → Business policies, then opt in to the feature.
Create your 3 policies
Create at least one payment policy, one return policy and one fulfillment policy. Postfast will detect them and select them for you automatically.
Check the address on your eBay account
The fourth requirement is a dispatch address: the address your parcels are sent from. eBay has no page for creating one — Postfast creates it for you, from the registration address on your account. All you have to do is make sure that address is filled in and complete on eBay.
- An active eBay seller account
- Business policies turned on (payment, return, fulfillment)
- A complete address on your eBay account — Postfast turns it into your dispatch address
- The Postfast app installed and signed in to your account
Connect your eBay account to Postfast
Open the settings
In Postfast: the Settings tab → the eBay section → Connect my eBay account. (The button also shows up when you go to publish a listing.)
Authorise Postfast on eBay
You are taken to the official eBay page. Sign in and accept the authorisation. eBay then sends you straight back to the app.
That's it, you're connected
Postfast picks up your seller username and your business policies. The screen reads “eBay connected”. You will not have to do this again.
Publish a listing on eBay
Generate, then open publishing
Create a listing in Postfast the way you always do, then go to the Publish screen and choose eBay.
Preview & Publish
Tap Preview & Publish: check the suggested category, condition and price, adjust anything you want, then confirm.
Live on eBay
The listing goes live on your eBay account. A direct link to it appears in Postfast. Editing it later (an update) is free.
Frequently asked questions
Does Postfast have access to my eBay password?
No. The connection goes through eBay's official system (OAuth). Postfast only receives an access token, encrypted and stored securely, which you can revoke at any time.
Does it cost anything?
The feature is included in every plan, the free one included. Publishing a listing for the first time counts as one generation from your plan; relisting or updating a listing that is already live is free.
Why am I seeing “Finish eBay setup”?
One of the four requirements is missing on the eBay side: a payment, return or fulfillment policy, or the dispatch address. Postfast tells you which one. Sort it out on eBay, then come back to Postfast and tap “I'm done — re-detect”: there is no need to sign in again, your eBay connection stays valid.
Postfast is asking for a “dispatch address” — what is that?
It is the address your parcels are sent from (eBay calls it an “inventory location”). It only exists for the API: no eBay page lets you create one. So Postfast creates it for you, from the registration address on your eBay account. If it still shows up in the list of missing items, that address is missing or incomplete: complete it on eBay, then tap “I'm done — re-detect” in Postfast.
Can I publish automatically to Vinted or Gumtree as well?
Not yet: eBay is the only platform that allows direct publishing through an API. For the others, Postfast prepares the full listing and you publish it by copy-paste (one tap opens the app, and the description is copied for you automatically).
How do I disconnect my eBay account?
In Postfast: Settings → eBay → Disconnect. The sales already imported stay where they are; only the syncing stops.
